Kolkata: BJP MP Khagen Murmu sustained serious injuries after his vehicle was allegedly attacked by some unknown miscreants as he visited the rain-affected areas of Nagrakata in Jalpaiguri district on Monday. He was accompanied by BJP's Siliguri MLA and chief whip in the Bengal assembly Shankar Ghosh. Trinamool Congress, CPI-M and Congress have condemned the attack. Both Ghosh and Murmu were chased by the miscreants and slippers were hurled at them.
Murmu's vehicle was allegedly ransacked and vandalised by a mob in Nagrakata area when Murmu and Ghosh went to distribute relief material to the affected people. Murmu's vehicle was allegedly surrounded by miscreants and the rear, side and front glass of his vehicle were broken after stones were hurled.
Murmu was bleeding profusely after the attack and the rear and side window glass were completely broken. Shreds of glass fell inside their vehicle.
Shankar Ghosh, Siliguri MLA, was also allegedly assaulted in Nagrakata and sustained injuries.
