Christian Horner's already impressive fortune is set to skyrocket as he is reportedly due to receive over £80million from Red Bull following his dismissal. As the team principal of the Formula 1 team, Horner led Red Bull to eight drivers' championships and six constructors' championships in two decades.
The 51-year-old was shown the door in July and replaced as team boss at Red Bull by Laurent Mekies. Horner remained on the payroll until a settlement was reached, and in August, Mirror Sport reported that filings had confirmed his termination as director of all three UK-registered companies associated with the team.
Now, it's reported that Horner and his former employers have agreed on a compensation package that will significantly increase his already substantial net worth, which he shares with his wife, former Spice Girl Geri Halliwell.
The Times reports that Horner will pocket over £80m for having his contract ripped up, which was originally set to run until 2030. He is also expected to serve a period of gardening leave before taking up a role with another F1 team, which could happen from the middle of next season if he receives an offer.
Horner was just 31 when he joined Red Bull in 2005 as team principal, making him the youngest in the circuit's history. A decade later, he tied the knot with Spice Girls star Halliwell, reports the Express.

During his stint in Milton Keynes, Horner was believed to pocket an annual wage of just under £8m. When paired with his 52-year-old pop star partner's earnings, their combined wealth is estimated at a staggering £440m.
The bulk of this fortune comes from Halliwell's numerous chart-topping singles and diverse acting career. She has also ventured into penning children's literature.
Horner himself is reportedly valued at only £36m, though this figure will presumably rise with his agreed settlement and his contract being terminated five years early.
When Horner's sacking was revealed in July, following disappointing track results and off-track scandals, he posted a touching message on Instagram.
He penned: "After an incredible journey of twenty years together, it is with a heavy heart that today I say goodbye to the team I have absolutely loved.
"Every one of you, the amazing people at the factory, have been the heart and soul of everything that we have achieved. Win and lose, every step of the way, we have stood by each other as one.
"I will never forget that. It's been a privilege being part of and leading this epic team and I am so proud of our collective accomplishments and you all.
"Thanks to the amazing partners and fans who enabled us to go racing. Your support has helped grow the team from its humble beginnings to an F1 powerhouse that laid claim to 6 Constructors Championships and 8 Drivers Championships."
