The bookies should be bricking it about MASTER BUILDER (3.00) in the Betfair Exchange Old Borough Cup. David Menuisier’s runner won the three-year-old’s version of this race on this Haydock card 12 months ago.

He’s only had three runs this season, so arrives fresher than most. After a promising return to action when runner-up in the Great Metropolitan Handicap at Epsom, he ran well when fourth behind subsequent Royal Ascot winner French Master over 1m6f at Goodwood. Those efforts came when his trainer was struggling. He’s in much better form now and Master Builder’s most recent run is not worth worrying about as he was poorly positioned in a Goodwood race that was dominated by more prominently-ridden horses.

That was his first run for two months and it should have put the edge on him. Have 1pt each-way at 11-1. Sky Bet is paying out on six places.

BIG MOJO (3.35) looks to have a great chance of finally getting his deserved top-level victory in the Betfred Sprint Cup.

He was a bit unlucky to go down by a neck to No Half Measures in the July Cup and he wasn’t suited by the return to Goodwood’s sharp 5f course a month ago.

This should pan out perfectly for Mick Appleby’s well-drawn sprinter. Have 1pt each-way at 16-1. A couple of firms are going five places.

TARKHAN (2.40) is my best bet at Ascot. He has predictably hit form at the same time the weather has turned. His German Listed win on last year - before making the switch to Jamie Osborne came on soft ground.

It was no surprise to see him struggle on much faster conditions early in the season but it does mean he has tumbled down the weights.

His form in his last two starts has been much better. He ran well when fourth behind Great Acclaim at Chepstow after rain hit the Welsh track and he backed it up with an even better effort on genuinely soft ground at Sandown last weekend.

He got into a lovely rhythm out in front and was only collared in the closing stages by God Of War. With cheekpieces on for the first time, he should be suited by those prominent tactics again. Have 1pt each-way at 14-1. Sky Bet is offering six places.
