We Brits are a nation of animal lovers, with many of us utterly besotted with our pets. Whether you're a cat enthusiast, a dog devotee, or somewhere in between, the affection we have for our household animals is simply part of our daily lives. But while you might keep a close eye on your pet when you're at home, do you ever wonder what they get up to when you're out and about or sound asleep?

The truth could be quite surprising, as none of us truly know what happens in our homes when we're not around. This curiosity led one woman to install a Ring camera in her living room, where her two dogs snooze, allowing her to see what antics they get up to while she's away or fast asleep.

One morning, after reviewing the footage, she was left in fits of laughter by the peculiar thing one of her dogs had managed to do in the wee hours while she was soundly sleeping.

The woman, named Sophie, posted the video on TikTokshowing her dog, Spencer, sauntering into the room at around 2am.

In the centre of the room, a large fan gently spins to keep the two dogs comfortable during the night. Intrigued, Spencer ambles over to the fan and sniffs it, but his nose accidentally hits the off switch, causing the fan to stop with a loud beep.

In a hilarious turn of events, Spencer appears to realise he's made a blunder, as he freezes on the spot and stares directly at the Ring camera, seemingly anticipating a telling-off for inadvertently turning off the fan.

Sophie wrote on the post: "My dog accidentally turns off the fan and s**ts himself."

She also captioned the video: "I wondered why the fan was off when I came downstairs in the morning, thought maybe we'd had a power cut or it had broken? Watched the Ring camera back, and he'd decided to take it upon himself and turn it off at 2am."

Viewers of the clip were left howling with laughter at Spencer's shenanigans.

Numerous people spotted the second pooch at the bottom of the camera shot, who had been snoozing peacefully until opening one eye when Spencer switched off the fan.

One person said: "He's trying to figure out how to put it back on before he gets into trouble, that's hilarious!".

Another added: "They have the funniest personalities. They're so aware."

A third also posted: "I love how the other one slowly opens his eyes."
