A hospital is going to remove a plaque unveiled when opened by disgraced Andrew Mountbatten Windsor, it has been claimed. Chase Farm Hospital, part of London's Royal Free NHS Foundation Trust, was opened in the presence of the former Duke of York during a glittering ceremony in 2019.
But Andrew's latest fall from grace saw increasingly more people asking for the plaque to be removed due to the royal's scandals. The King's brother has been stripped of his royal titles and honours, while he has also agreed to leave his home, Royal Lodge, in Windsor, despite being granted a 75-year lease for it in 2003.
Following the latest news, the Trust has now decided to remove the plaque linking the hospital to the disgraced royal.
A spokesperson told the Mirror: "Following the events of recent days and the changes to his status, the plaque at Chase Farm Hospital is being taken down.
"Andrew Mountbatten Windsor was removed as patron of the Royal Free London in 2022 and has had no association with our trust since then."
In May 2019, just months before he stepped down as a senior working royal due to his links to convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein, Andrew said during the opening: "It is a huge pleasure to be here today, particularly as I am patron of the Royal Free London, and I am amazed at the speed at which this new hospital has been built.
"Hospitals are about increasing the likelihood of better patient outcomes and patient healthcare, and today I have been around this new hospital, met some of your staff, and it is clear that that intent is being delivered."
It comes as US President Donald Trump said he feels "badly" for the Royal Family amid the continuing fallout over Andrew's connections with Epstein.
Speaking to reporters on board Air Force One late on Sunday, the US president was asked about the King's decision to strip his brother of his peerages and the title of prince.
"It's a terrible thing that's happened to the (royal) family," Mr Trump said.
"That's been a tragic situation. It's too bad. I feel badly for the family."
