A spectacular show at the world-famous Bellagio fountains is being planned to kick off a major new sponsorship deal for Formula 1. At the Las Vegas Grand Prix in November, the collaboration with Disney announced earlier this year will officially begin with the assistance of a remarkable backdrop.
It has now been confirmed that Disney Live Entertainment will be putting on a special performance starring iconic character Mickey Mouse in front of the Bellagio fountains. Mickey and Friends will also take part in a pit lane walk in front of the purpose-built pit building which serves as the centrepieces of the race weekend.
Naturally, there will also be plenty of merchandise with the earliest waves going on sale in early November. In a press release, it was confirmed that many iconic Las Vegas hotels and venues will be taking part, including the Venetian Resort which will house the 'hub'.
It read: "The elevated capsule collection will be available to shop on-site beginning November 8 at the F1 Las Vegas Hub Presented by American Express inside the Venetian Resort Las Vegas, with select items available on DisneyStore.com in North America."
Tasia Filippatos, president of Disney consumer products, said: "The Disney brand represents the power of storytelling, creativity and connection-values that resonate deeply with fans and partners alike worldwide. We are thrilled to be uniting sports, pop culture and entertainment in a way that delivers an unforgettable experience for both Mickey and Friends and F1 fans globally."
F1 heads first to Brazil for the Sao Paulo Grand Prix before making the journey forward to Nevada. Lando Norris will hope to still be in control of the championship by the end of his weekend's work at Interlagos, having snatched the lead in the standings from team-mate Oscar Piastri with a dominant win last time out in Mexico City.
Las Vegas was not a great venue for McLaren last year as they finished sixth and seventh, and the long straights are unlikely to suit their current car either. Mercedes were dominent in Sin City last year, George Russell taking victory with Lewis Hamilton second, scoring his final podium with the Silver Arrows.
Ferrari have also tended to do well in Las Vegas - they were third and fourth last year while Charles Leclerc was also on the podium in 2023, the first edition of the event. Russell and Max Verstappen will be the only ones heading into this year's race having won on the Las Vegas Strip Circuit in the past.
