An unborn baby has died after a boyfriend allegedly assaulted his pregnant partner. Police were called to an incident in Charlotte, North Carolina, US, after reports of a domestic assault at a home in the city.
Officers discovered a pregnant woman who accused her partner of assault. Arnold Noe Santos Deras, 21, was detained for Assault on a Female, Misdemeanour Crime of Domestic Violence, and Battery of an Unborn Child.
Mecklenburg County Medical Examiner later informed detectives that the woman had given birth to a 15-week-old stillborn foetus.
The boyfriend has now been charged with the following: breaking and entering, assault on a female, misdemeanour crime of domestic violence, battery of an unborn child, assault by strangulation, and murder of an unborn child.
The police investigation is still ongoing.
