Meghan Markle's rumoured return to acting has taken many people around the world by surprise, with the Royal Family likely to also be feeling this way. On Wednesday evening, it was revealed that Meghan will play herself in the upcoming comedy Close Personal Friends.
The duchess has already been seen on the movie set in LA, however has not personally addressed the news herself. Meghan, 44, had been an actress before marrying Prince Harry and becoming a working royal - a role she quit, alongside her husband, in 2020. The Royal Family have also not commented on the news, however royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams believes they will be "amused" by it.
Speaking exclusively to Express.co.uk, Mr Fitzwilliams said: "I suspect members of the Royal Family will be amused that Meghan has gone back to acting, we don't know for how long.
"Being part of the Royal Family involves theatre and they might well reflect that she (Meghan) didn't play her part as a senior working royal for very long and then wreaked havoc on the unique family, which she was part of for personal gain."
Mr Fitzwilliams also said that by playing herself, Meghan's "self-love" is clear for all to see.
Prince Harry has not commented on his wife's career move, however it is believed he is fully supportive of her.
A studio source told The Sun last night: "Prince Harry is, of course, really supportive and quite simply wants Meghan to do whatever brings her joy."
It is not yet known how big Meghan's role in the movie is, or whether this marks the start of a full-time return to acting.
This is believed to be unlikely, with the duchess having her own brand As Ever, which is believed to be her main work focus at the moment.
