Hundreds of contestants are battling it out in a colossal reality TV contest, all vying for a life-altering cash prize - one of the biggest ever seen on television.
A new series ofSquid Game: The Challenge has returned to Netflix this week (November 4), featuring 456 new competitors competing in a series of ruthless games in pursuit of the coveted title.
Inspired by the wildly popular Korean sensation Squid Game, the second season of the reality programme will see the contestants engage in a variety of games, some familiar from the original show and others making their debut, as they go toe-to-toe.
The first four episodes landed on Netflix on Tuesday, but enthusiasts will have to wait until next week, November 11, for the subsequent four episodes.
Audiences will then be left in suspense for the season finale, which won't hit Netflix until Wednesday, November 19. However, while fans eagerly await, we've gathered everything you need to know about the hefty prize money that awaits the victor, reports the Mirror.
With 456 competitors squaring off over the coming three weeks, only one can claim the crown. As enemies lurk in the open, players must discern who can be trusted as they navigate through brutal and merciless games.
Unlike the original sensation, where losing meant fatal consequences, there will still be crushing effects as participants are eliminated from the games and lose their shot at the life-transforming sum of money.
Contestants are battling it out for a staggering $456 million, equivalent to £3.47 million - marking one of the largest prize pots in reality TV competition history.
In 2023, Mai Whelan, also known as Player 287, was declared the champion, taking home the life-changing sum. Following her victory, Mai shared her plans for the winnings with Netflix's Tudum, which included refurbishing her house.
Today, she is a published author and philanthropist, running her own YouTube channel and using her winnings to make a positive impact. Her social media profile reveals that she is "passionate about changing the world through community and non-profits".
However, securing the cash prize is no easy task. The games include challenging tasks such as the Six-Legged Pentathlon, Catch, Marbles, and Circle of Trust.
