Garmin makes some of the best running smartwatches available. Its products have stellar days-long battery life, accurate GPS tracking, great software, colourful and readable screens, and subtle designs to blend in with your everyday look as well as your gym gear.
As the name suggests, the Garmin Forerunner range is geared towards runners, but some of the latest models have creeped up in price. For example, the Forerunner 265 costs £379.99, while the newer Forerunner 570 will set you back £459.99.
For those understandably on a tighter budget, Amazon might have the Garmin deal for you. The online retailer has discounted the Garmin Forerunner 255 to £199.99, a £100 saving on its previous £299 price.
If you prefer to shop with a different seller, the Forerunner 255 is the same discounted £199.99 price from Currys.
While £199.99 is still a tad expensive, I can tell you that's a great price for a Forerunner. The 255 was originally released in 2022, but it is still a very accomplished running and exercise watch in 2025.
You'll get up to 14 days of battery life, a figure that wipes the floor with the latest Apple Watch Series 11, which can only eke out 24 hours. The longevity will go down the more you use GPS or the always-on display, but you'll comfortably go a week before you need to reach for the charger.
Garmin watches give you a handy morning report where you'll see an overview of your sleep (if you wear the 255 to bed) plus your heart rate variability (HRV) and workout overviews and recommendations for the day based on your previous exercise activity.

Although running is the main appeal of this watch, it can track cycling, hiking and swimming also using the GPS tracking to plot your route out on a map to view afterwards, plus other activities such as treadmill, indoor bike, yoga and even triathlons.
If you are training for a particular event you can use Garmin Coach, which helps you stay on target by creating a training plan to reach your fitness goals, with lots of insight on the wrist or in the Garmin app to check out your vital stats and see your progress.
You lose the third party app support you get from an Apple Watch, Samsung Galaxy Watch or Google Pixel Watch, but if your main need from a smartwatch is fitness tracking,y ou might not miss apps such as Uber, Google Maps or Strava.
That said, Garmin integrates very well with the Strava app on your iPhone or Android phone so you can upload all your workouts to the popular social app.
Add to that nap detection, women's health tracking, stress tracking and a plethora of other granular data to mine, the Forerunner 255 is great value at a penny under £200.
Unfortunately not all UK banks are supported by Garmin Pay, but Monzo, Revolut, Curve, Santander and Starling are compatible with contactless payments on the device.
At the time of writing, the Garmin Forerunner 255 model on sale at Amazon is the blue 46mm size version. It's not stated how long the deal price will last for.
